Industry Leaders in Quality and Price

Rocky Mountain Instrument (RMI) was founded in beautiful Boulder, Colorado in 1957. Over the years, we’ve led our industry in many aspects of optical manufacturing, including precision fabrication, polishing, thin-film coatings, optical design & engineering, and opto-mechanical assembly. RMI CO2 specializes in producing Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) lenses using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process.

For over 60 years, we’ve supplied optics for a diverse array of laser OEMs active in medical, defense, semiconductor, scientific and industrial markets. We now also provide laser lens replacements direct to job shops, machine shops and other manufacturing facilities in search of higher quality lenses for a low price.

RMI CO2 lets you direct order the exact CO2 laser cutting lens you need online and pay 20% less than you would with any other vendor. RMI CO2 offers high-quality lenses, superior quality assurance, excellent customer service and full product support.

Our Mission

After many conversations with job and machine shop owners, metal forming specialists and laser operators, it became clear to us that most users all want the same three things:

  1. Extremely long-lasting, high performance CO2 replacement lenses
  2. Anti-reflection lens coatings with the lowest possible absorption
  3. High quality lenses for a low price

RMI CO2 delivers on all three demands! We also do our best to provide friendly, responsive customer service and we stock plenty of inventory on hand of the most popular OEM replacement lens sizes.

We’re able to give you an excellent alternative from ordering replacement lenses from the leading OEMs because we brought the most critical aspect of the production process in house with our CVD manufacturing of Zinc Selenide substrate material.

Building upon the proven equipment and processes utilized by the top industry leaders, our material has been qualified by multiple third party sources as ‘high-power laser grade.’  We have also refined the polishing and thin-film deposition process to create the best possible, lowest scattering surfaces and lowest absorption coatings on the market.

Our total commitment to quality has resulted in the longest lasting CO2 laser lenses. In fact, many of our customers report that our lenses last 50-100% longer than the lenses they ordered previously from their OEMs.
